EMOTION REFLEX THERAPY

People often find themselves repeating patterns they never intended to repeat. Our experiences, relationships, environments, and life circumstances shape the ways we think, feel, and respond to the world around us. Over time, some of these patterns help us thrive, while others may no longer serve us in the ways they once did.

Emotion Reflex Therapy (ERT) was developed by Dr. Thomas Workman and Dr. Emily Belsito to help people better understand the factors influencing their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Rather than viewing emotions as problems to eliminate, ERT approaches them as meaningful responses that can provide valuable information about our experiences, needs, relationships, and environments.

ERT is informed by the Emotion Reflex Model (ERM), a framework developed to better understand how experiences shape adaptation over time. The model explores how life circumstances influence the pathways we rely upon, the options we perceive, and the choices available to us in any given moment.

Our approach is built on a simple idea: people make the best decisions they can with the information, resources, and circumstances available to them at the time. When circumstances become restrictive, it can become difficult to move toward what matters most. Therapy can help increase awareness, strengthen resilience, expand flexibility, and open new possibilities for growth and change.

The goal of Emotion Reflex Therapy is not simply to reduce distress. It is to help people better understand themselves, respond more effectively to life's challenges, and build the flexibility needed to create meaningful and lasting change.
